Mrs. Fisher

About Me
Hi there! My name is Savannah Fisher, and this is my fifth year teaching at Pelham Ridge Elementary School. I LOVE teaching in Pelham. I taught first grade for four years, but this will be my first year teaching THIRD! I believe an effective teacher is passionate about learning, always strives to do more than what is expected, and enjoys creating meaningful and relatable experiences for students. For students to become passionate about learning, I believe that it is important for their teacher to possess the same outlook. Learning is an ongoing process and never truly ends, so there is always something more that can be done. Therefore, I strive to continue searching for opportunities and never settle for the average in a situation. By creating relatable and discovery based lessons, I hope my students can make personal connections that activate meaningful learning.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Thomas. We grew up together in Pelham schools, and met through the middle/high school band program. Some of our hobbies include watching sports (football & hockey), traveling, exploring music (Thomas plays the trombone in a Mardi Gras Brass Band), and cuddling with our sweet black cat "Shadow".

Education/Career
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a certificate in Early Childhood Education in May of 2018 from The University of Alabama. After becoming LETRS trained, I decided to pursue a Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction, with specializations in Math, Science, and Social Studies at The University of Alabama. During my time at UA, I was a member of The Million Dollar Band Color Guard and Alta Marea Winterguard. Now, I am a local choreographer and instructor, and just started working with The University of Alabama's Million Dollar Band Color Guard and Alta Marea Winterguard.
ROLL TIDE!!
Attending local community events and supporting students in their extracurricular activities are two things that are very important to me. PLEASE send me your child's game schedules, performance dates, and other exciting events in their life. If I have availability, I will do my best to attend their event.
If you have questions, concerns, or requests, please contact me by sending a physical note or e-mail. I am looking forward to a great year full of learning new things and making memories with your third grader!
