Jennifer Stankard

Mrs. Stankard

Hi! I'm Jennifer Stankard. I am currently in my 4th year of teaching and in my 1st year at Pelham Ridge! My family and I moved to Hoover in 2017 after my husband ended his military career. Prior to working at PRES, I taught with the Department of Defense for 3 years. I graduated from Auburn University Montgomery in 2011 with a B.S. in Childhood Education. My husband, Patrick, and I have been married for 7 years and have two boys, Will and Cooper. I believe that being a mother has really helped me relate to my students and their parents!
I have a passion for reading and writing that is out of this world, and I work hard to foster that same passion in my students. When I'm not spending time with my husband and my two young boys, I enjoy creating resources for my classroom and coming up with new entries for my writer's notebook. I love sharing my writer's notebook with my students to show them that writing can be fun, creative, and most importantly, meaningful! We have lots of fun coming up with topic ideas, sharing our writing samples, and discussing the importance of the writing process.

One of my favorite things about being an ELA teacher is being able to help students fall in love with reading. I love gathering and sharing books that I know my students will enjoy and relate to, including stories written by Patricia Polacco, Betty G. Birney, and Chris Van Allsburg. Being able to be a part of my students' educational journey and helping shape them into successful lifelong learners is one of the things I'm most proud of in life!
